Serving

Where can I serve?

There is no way that paid staff could do all that needs to be done at Crabapple. As a church grows, people often feel that they are not specifically needed in ministry. Not true! For example, we need dozens of volunteers each and every weekend just to make Sunday morning operate smoothly.

Ways to Serve
Some volunteer positions are ongoing and some are one-time opportunities. For example, we need people for ushering, for parking lot attending, for choirs, for nursery service, for AWANA, and for leading small groups. We need moms with older children who can mentor younger moms, office help, missions coordinators, youth chaperones, welcome center greeters, instrumentalists, Sunday school class outreach leaders and more. Here are some current volunteer positions we are currently seeking:

  • On Mission Team volunteers - Missions, seeing God glorified among all peoples, is the heartbeat of our church. We presently have a large need for folks to oversee our missions strategy areas, to communicate the churches missions efforts to the church, and more. If you know him, get in touch with Jason Thomason to find out more or call the church office to see how you might be involved.
  • S.M.I.L.E. Team - This team plays an understated, but hugely important role in making sure our Sunday mornings run well. From parking lot attendants, to door greeters, to welcome center volunteers, these folks make sure that we receive all our guests in the most winsome way possible. The great thing is that little expertise is needed, just a joyful personality. You can get started this week. Contact Steve Jones or the church office to get involved.
  • Children's Ministries - We are always looking for folks who have a heart to teach children the Word of God. Children and preschool ministry is not childcare, but rather a crucible for nurturing the spiritual growth of children. From Awana, to extended session, to Sunday school, and Sunday evening activities, we need folks to step up who are passionately committed to children. E-mail Scott to find out more.
  • Evangelism Mobilization Team - We are looking for folks who have a heart, not just for sharing the Gospel, but for leading the church body to be active witnesses for the Lord Jesus Christ. In 2009, we will be looking to put together a team of folks who will help lead the charge for our church in the area of evangelism (NOT simply do all of the evangelism!). E-mail Michael to get involved with this team.
  • Senior Adult Leadership Team - We are looking for some folks who can help take the lead in ministering to our church’s seniors and leading our church’s seniors to minister. If you have a heart for senior adults and senior adults ministry or you know someone who might, e-mail Michael.
