Discover Crabapple

Discovery Zone Classes

Discovery Zone classes are usually held at least once per quarter. These classes are an opportunity for you to meet the church's pastors and to learn more about who Crabapple is and what the church is about. These sessions, led by our senior pastor, Jerry Dockery, are highly recommeded to newcomers and especially to those who have requested membership at Crabapple. The classes last for four weeks and cover the following topics:

Session 1 - Who We Are

Here you will be introduced to the history and identity of Crabapple. You will find out about why we identify as a distinctively Baptist church, and what that means for our churches practices and associations. You will also be introduced the vision of the church.

Session 2 - What We Do

The second session explores biblical metaphors for the church (Family of God, Body of Christ, etc) and explains what that means for how we relate to one another in the church. We also explore the basic functions of the church as it seeks to be faithful to its mission.

Session 3 - How We Operate

Here we discuss the New Testament pattern for the church. This includes expectations of membership, how the church is governed, and how God uses the church in the sanctification of believers.

Session 4 - Involvement

In the final session, we seek to help you figure out how God might be leading you to be involved at Crabapple. You will be introduced to the various ministry opportunities available at Crabapple for you to consider how your gifting and desire can be put into service.

Classes take place during the Sunday school hour beginning at 9:15 am. Participation at all four classes is expected. Check back here to find out when the next series of classes will begin. To find out more about Discovery Zone classes, feel free to contact the church office.
